Ram Gopal Varma Questions Authenticity Of National Film Awards, Cites Aamir Khan As Example

Ram Gopal Varma’s remarks on various issues have often landed the filmmaker in trouble. However, looks like he is not the one to get affected.

In a fresh set of tweets, he is taking a dig at National Film Awards. He begins by saying that Aamir Khan’s absence from prestigious award events including the National Film Awards is proof how irrelevant the system is.

He tweeted, “Fact that Aamir khan, the greatest film maker of india does not attend any award events including national award speaks about those events (sic).”

Ram Gopal Varma further said that despite making high-quality films, Aamir doesn’t care if he finds mention at Indian awards.

He wrote, “Highest quality films are made by Aamir and that he doesn’t care to be measured by any Indian award committee, including National (Awards) speaks loud."

This is not the first time that Ramu has gone on a Twitter rant. Sometime ago, he targeted Tiger Shroff – that too on his birthday. Not only did RGV compare Tiger's washboard abs to that of gay men, he even commented on the poses he gives for photo shoots - saying they were like Urmila Matondkar.

Days later, Ramu apologized to Tiger.

Post the incident, the media asked Tiger to comment on the controversy to which he said, “I am not even half the man that my father (Jackie Shroff) is. He is the original hero. Even if I tried I can't be like him. But everyone has the freedom of speech. He is a senior director, so, there's not much I can say to him. I try to be my own individual self and be different. I try to express my individuality as much as I can. Some might appreciate my artistic expression, some may not. To each his own.”

Ramu also mouthed a lot of hate against the International Women's Day. Those comments outraged many women and social activist, Vishaka Mhambre, filed a case against RGV at Goa.
